yesterday was $1 flip flop day at work. woohoo, flip flops for $1. really, flip flops are barely worth that, and they're not even good for your feet. but because of this, i've sort of snapped back to reality.

customers of all ages, races and sexes turned into... animals. there's no other word for it. they were scrambling for flip flops as though their lives depended on it. you would have thought we were in Rwanda and people were fighting for food. but no. it was flip flops.

people were attacking the employees, jumping them to get at the bags of flip flops that were being put out on the floor. one employee refused to go into upstock for the rest of the day because he was afraid the idiots down below would cause him to fall off the ladder.

i used to believe in humanity, but after this i don't see how i can. i come home later on to the shallow, self-involved world of facebook. granted, i'm on facebook and i do indulge in stupid quizzes, but i'm getting frustrated with the politics of it all. you can be friends with someone on facebook even if you've never spoken to them in real life. it's all about projecting yourself as you want to be seen, and none of it is real. quite frankly, i've had enough.

let's face it. everyone's vain. my dA name is vanityproject. but honestly, it's gotten to a point where i just don't know how to deal with it anymore, and i'm lashing out. it's awful, because now i've lost a friend, but to be honest, i don't know how much i care.

we need to turn ourselves outward and see people around us. it is only by seeing their plights and helping them out that we can truly be satisfied and know that we've lived a life worth living.

when was the last time you helped someone else?
